Former state lawmaker and APS Administrator, Sheryl Williams Stapleton convicted of conspiring to steal federal grant money from the school district.

Sheryl Williams Stapleton had nothing to say after a jury found her guilty of scheming to steal millions of dollars meant for Albuquerque students. Even as she was peppered with questions, the former state representative and APD administrator maintained her silence.

Stapleton’s attorney told KRQE that she is not speaking to the media because she still faces charges at the state level. “It’s not a matter of her not wanting to talk. It’s a matter of the process and the system,” said Ahmad Assed.
