DA Alvin Bragg declined to move forward with an assault charge against 27-year-old Gusmane Coulibaly, instead filing a misdemeanor count of obstructing governmental administration and a harassment violation.

"Deputy Commissioner Dwayne McDonald, the commanding officer for the RCMP in B.C., identified the suspect as Jesse Van Rootselaar, 18, of Tumbler Ridge.

Democrats in Wyoming voted against a bill that would impose harsher sentences for people who commit sex crimes against kids

In addition to every democrat, 13 republicans voted no on creating felony penalties for grooming minors for sexual crimes.

The House voted 43-19 to introduce the bill, despite the unanimous opposition from Democrats.
HB0009 - defines "grooming" as
"deliberate acts to manipulate or induce a minor into sexual conduct or exploitation, including building emotional connections through trust-building or influence, and distributing sexually explicit materials"

The standard felony carries up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine, escalating to 4 years to life if the victim is under 16, and a minimum 25 years with up to a $50,000 fine if under 12.
Offenders would also face mandatory sexual offender treatment and up to 10 years of probation.
