Instead, prosecutors dropped five of the six charges. Gresh pleaded guilty to one reduced count. The plea deal was hammered out in about 15 minutes.
Jefferson presided, signed off on the one-day sentence (time served), lifetime sex offender registration, and 20 years of supervision.
This happened about 5 years ago. The case is back in the spotlight after Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) posted the details and the full court file online, calling it proof the system is broken.
