Mount Vernon Police Deputy Commissioner Jennifer Lackard Arrested in Bronx Shooting Investigation

According to investigators, the incident stems from a June 29 shooting near the Bronx Criminal Court.
Police allege that Lackard’s son, Chase Lackard, fired shots at a group before fleeing the scene in a vehicle allegedly driven by his mother. No injuries were reported.

This is the city’s fifth employee arrested so far this year.

Jennifer Lackard and her son were taken into custody Tuesday morning and face multiple charges, including attempted murder, attempted assault, criminal possession of a firearm, conspiracy, and reckless endangerment. The allegations have not yet been proven in court, and both defendants are presumed innocent unless and until convicted.

Lackard serves as a Deputy Police Commissioner with the Mount Vernon Police Department, a position listed in the department’s executive leadership.
