Abdihamat Bille Mohamed - a convicted Somali migrant sex offender with a history of raping women at gunpoint - was released by a Minnesota Judge

A convicted sex offender with a history of targeting women through social media apps is facing new felony charges for allegedly kidnapping and raping a woman in September, just months after receiving probation sentences for two prior rapes.

Mohamed, 28, a Somali migrant who lives in Minneapolis, was released by Judge Julie Allyn - appointed by Gov. Walz - without prison time in May, even though he pleaded guilty to crimes that included the gunpoint rape of a teenage girl.

Prosecutors say Mohamed, already under supervised release, used Snapchat to lure the latest victim from her home in Mankato, drove her to the hotel, and held her captive for several days while repeatedly r*ping her.

He faces charges of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and kidnapping in Hennepin County, with authorities emphasizing the aggressive nature of the attack on someone he met online.
