As I keep saying, there is no alternative energy source that either pays for itself or does good for the environment. None, zero, zip, nada. In the long run all of the alternatives such as wind and solar cost more than the energy they can provide in a lifetime and the manufacturing and disposal of such products does far more harm to the environment than the utility energy they're trying to replace.
$5,000,000 over 7 years is $714,000 per year while they produced $300,000 per year in energy. Now someone has the task of paying to remove them, or leave them cluttering up the landscape. Then the gigantic fiberglass blades will sit in a landfill somewhere.
Now, granted these failed prematurely but even if you doubled that time frame, it's still an epic loss and we don't know what the cost of disposal is.
